In Madrid, King Juan Carlos I awards him the Medalla de Oro de Bellas Artes, and in London he is invested doctor honoris causa by the Royal College of Art. Makes the first sketches for a monumental sculpture dedicated to Picasso, commissioned by Barcelona City Council. Further collaborations in the field of the collector\u2019s book:\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Anular<\/i>, with Jos\u00e9-Miguel Ull\u00e1n,\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">T\u00e0pies, r\u00e9pliquer,<\/i>\u00a0with Jean Daive, and\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">La pierre trouant le sens mais, plus tard, le ciel au fond de l\u2019entaille<\/i>, with Yves Bonnefoy. Attends the opening of his retrospective exhibition at the Fondation Ch\u00e2teau de Jau (Cases-de-P\u00e8ne, France). Another trip to New York for his exhibition at the M. Knoedler Gallery. In Barcelona, the Galeria Maeght brings together over a hundred paintings and drawings from 1980. Solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Lindau, Sankt Gall, San Francisco, Madrid, Cologne, D\u00fcsseldorf, Osaka and Zurich. Takes part in the exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Paris-Paris, 1937-1957. Cr\u00e9ation en France<\/i>\u00a0(Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"spip\"><strong class=\"spip\">1982<\/strong><br \/>\nPublication of\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">La realitat com a art<\/i>, a third collection of articles and statements by the artist. The dichotomy between \u201creal culture\u201d and \u201cofficial culture\u201d and a questioning of the cultural policies promoted by the political establishment are recurrent themes in his texts during the course of the year. He attends the opening of his retrospective exhibition in Venice (Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista) as part of the XL Biennale di Venezia. Jointly with Marc Chagall he is awarded the Wolf Foundation prize in Jerusalem. Designs the sets for Jacques Dupin\u2019s play\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">L\u2019\u00c9boulemen<\/i>t. Collaborates with Pere Gimferrer on the collector\u2019s book\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Aparicions<\/i>. Produces three etchings for\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">El p\u00e9ndulo inm\u00f3vil<\/i>, by Jos\u00e9 Angel Valente.
