The Fundaci\u00f3 Antoni T\u00e0pies, Barcelona, reopens to the public after two years-closure for the rehabilitation of the building, conducted by the firm of architects \u00c1balos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos. The inaugural exhibition is\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Antoni T\u00e0pies. The Places of Art<\/i>, including works from T\u00e0pies\u2019 private collection and works made by the artist during the last twenty years. To coincide with the reopening, the work\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Mitj\u00f3<\/i>\u00a0(Sock) (maquette, 1991; work, 2010) is installed on the terrace of the Fundaci\u00f3.\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Mitj\u00f3<\/i>\u00a0was a sculpture project for the Oval Hall of the Museu Nacional d\u2019Art de Catalunya, Barcelona, which, while having caused a great social impact both in favour and against, was never realised. The Fundaci\u00f3 Antoni T\u00e0pies publishes, in Catalan and Spanish, the first volume of the complete written works by Antoni T\u00e0pies\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Mem\u00f2ria personal. Fragment per a una autobiografia (Obra escrita completa. Volum I)<\/i>\u00a0[A Personal Memoir. Fragments for an Autobiography (Complete Writings. Volume I)]. On 10 March, Pere Gimferrer and Josep Miquel Sobrer present the publication at the Auditorium of the Fundaci\u00f3. Together with Televisi\u00f3 de Catalunya and Enciclop\u00e8dia Catalana, the Fundaci\u00f3 releases the documentary\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Te de T\u00e0pies<\/i>\u00a0(T for T\u00e0pies), directed by Carolina Tubau and produced by Televisi\u00f3 de Catalunya. Juan Carlos I of Spain bestows the title of marquis on the artist. He designs the logo commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the public presentation of the Associaci\u00f3 d\u2019Artistes Visuals de Catalunya (AAVC), an organisation of which he is president. He designs the poster commemorating the 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Francis Borgia. He is honoured by the 5th International Engraving Biennial of Douro 2010 (August\u2013October). The Fundaci\u00f3 Palau, Caldes d\u2019Estrac, organises an exhibition of some the artist\u2019s recent works entitled\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Antoni T\u00e0pies. Look at the Hand&#8230;<\/i>(October 2010 \u2013 January 2011). Galeria Fernando Santos, Oporto, organises the exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Antoni T\u00e0pies. Graphic Works<\/i>\u00a0(November\u2013December 2010).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"spip\"><strong class=\"spip\">2011<\/strong><br \/>\nGalerie Lelong, Paris, shows the artist\u2019s most recent work, made in his studio in Campins in the summer of 2010 (February\u2013April 2011). At the same time, Galerie Boisser\u00e9e, Cologne, organises the exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Antoni T\u00e0pies. Malerei und Graphik<\/i>. He participates in the exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Realisme(s). L\u2019empremta de Courbet<\/i>\u00a0(Realism[s]. The Mark of Courbet), Museu Nacional d\u2019Art de Catalunya, MNAC, Barcelona. He produces the poster for the 12th Festival of Religious and World Music, Girona (28 June \u2013 10 July 2011). The Fundaci\u00f3 Antoni T\u00e0pies, together with Indiana University Press, Bloomington &amp; Indianapolis, publishes\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Collected Essays (Complete Writings. Volume II)<\/i>, the English version of the second and last volume of the artist\u2019s complete written works. The publication includes\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">La pr\u00e0ctica de l\u2019art<\/i>\u00a0(The Practice of Art), Barcelona: Ariel, 1970;\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">L\u2019art contra l\u2019est\u00e8tica<\/i>\u00a0(Art Against Aesthetics), Barcelona: Ariel, 1974;\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">La realitat com a art<\/i>\u00a0(Reality as Art), Barcelona: Laertes, 1982;\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Per un art modern i progressista<\/i>\u00a0(For a Modern and Progressive Art), Barcelona: Emp\u00faries, 1985;\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Valor de l\u2019art<\/i>\u00a0(The Value of Art), Barcelona: Emp\u00faries, 1993, and\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">L\u2019art i els seus llocs<\/i>\u00a0(The Places of Art), Madrid: Ediciones Siruela, 1999, as well as an appendix of assorted texts that had either not been included in the above publications or postdate them. To celebrate the publication of this book, the Fundaci\u00f3 Antoni T\u00e0pies and the Institut Ramon Llull organise the symposium,\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">The Critical Reception of the Work of Antoni T\u00e0pies in the United States<\/i>, at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, New York. The speakers are Manuel Borja-Villel, Serge Guilbaut and Julia E. Robinson, with Robert Lubar as moderator. He participates in the exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Louise Bourgeois. Antoni T\u00e0pies. Rencontre<\/i>, Galer\u00eda Soledad Lorenzo, Madrid, October\u2013November 2011. He exhibits paintings and drawings at the Galeria Toni T\u00e0pies, Barcelona (Novembre 2011 \u2013 January 2012). The Museum f\u00fcr Gegenwartskunst Siegen, Siegen, organises the retrospective exhibition\u00a0<i class=\"spip\">Bild, K\u00f6rper, Pathos<\/i>\u00a0(November 2011 \u2013 February 2012).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"spip\"><strong class=\"spip\">2012<\/strong><br \/>\nAntoni T\u00e0pies dies at 88 years of age, February 6, in Barcelona.
