Today February 13, the Museu Tàpies will be closed at 5 pm. for the opening of the exhibition ‘Antoni Tàpies. The Perpetual Movement of the Wall’ at 7:00 p.m.

Institute of Critical Derives

The Museu Tàpies has founded and consolidated a stable group for theory, comprised of Xavier Bassas, Manuel Borja-Villel, Daniel García Andújar, Imma Prieto and Mabel Tapia, along with the museum team members Pablo Allepuz, Pau Dito, Maria Sellarès and Patricia Sorroche, with the aim of focusing on the thought of Tàpies, articulating new interpretations and defining new readings and paradigms from his legacy.

The Institute of Critical Derives will organise five encounters a year at the Museu Tàpies, in an open, natural manner. All sessions will be recorded and the results will give way to new, unpublished material that will centre on the critical spirit and dialogistic will to construct ways of inhabiting the world.

In 2025, Isabel de Naverán and Maria Salgado were invited to a session each. In 2026, Tània Balló will join the group for the project “Tàpies, Portabella. Politics of Friendship”, wich will have other guests who will contribute to providing insights into specific research topics for this exhibition.
