A social memory that is explained through photography seen as a trace and an imprint of reality, a simulacrum of a presence that moves from one image to another in a short period of time, while revealing the secrets and the processes of manipulation and construction of the image.
Pere Noguera (La Bisbal d’Empordà, Girona, 1941) began his artistic career in the context of the ‘new poor’, ephemeral and conceptual poetics of the 1970s, working on process sculpture from an aesthetic and energetic approach of deconstruction and fragmentation akin to arte povera. He has worked on the conceptual processes of photography and electrography, and was a pioneer of work with photocopies and the concept of ‘archive as ready-made’ since the 1970s. His work uses found photographs and films to reveal a new way of understanding photography and its processes, a way of working that has lately been revised according to the new digital technologies.
