The Fundació presents a new selection of works by Antoni Tàpies belonging to the Collection. The works are hung chronologically from the 1940s to the present.

Installed in the Space A, the exhibition includes different creative moments in the artist’s career and illustrates the evolution of his typologies, techniques and use of materials. The exhibition also demonstrates Tàpies’ political commitment, especially towards the end of the 1960s and throughout the 1970s. This is particularly visible in a work from 1974, created in memory of the Catalan anarchist Salvador Puig Antich. Also included in the exhibition are some of the artist’s favourite images, such as everyday objects (Armari [Wardrobe], 1989), or the parts of the body (Al teu peu [To Your Foot], 1989). The selection also wants to emphasise the intentional unity in Tàpies’ body of work: his desire to let art intercede in our perception of the world.

The exhibition ends with the screening of the documentary Tàpies, 1990, directed by Gregory Rood and produced by the BBC and TVE Catalunya.
