Vertigo Sea, a work by John Akomfrah, explores mankind’s relationship to the sea. A relationship that has often been difficult, since the sea, from times immemorial, is a place where many people have lost their lives.

To accompany the exhibition, we are offering an activity in which we will reflect on some of the issues raised by the work, such as climate change and migration. We will begin by watching the film Vertigo Sea, 2015, by John Akomfrah. Next, with Open Arms activist Ángeles Schjaer, we will relate the contents of the fillm with the NGO’s labor and the experiences of the people who have taken to the sea as the only alternative to protect the most fundamental right of all, life.
