The Museu Tàpies grants the International Essay Award Gestures of the Past, Thought of the Present, to Rita Segato
The career of the Argentine anthropologist and feminist has been recognised from amongst four finalists proposed by the award’s advisory committee, comprised of the following group of theorists and intellectuals: Manuel Borja-Villel, Pilar Cortada, Eva March, Carmen Pardo, Josep Ramoneda, Alicia Rodés and Valentín Roma, along with Imma Prieto, the director of the Museu Tàpies, promotor of the award.
The award, developed in collaboration with the Antoni Tàpies – Universitat Pompeu Fabra Chair of Contemporary Art and Thought, includes a financial prize, a research residency at the Museu Tàpies and the publication of an essay conceived to contribute new readings of the artistic and intellectual legacy of Antoni Tàpies from a contemporary perspective.
From 2024 to 2028, the Museu Tàpies will promote a publishing series related to this award, with the release of a collection of essays conceived to give voice to new interpretative paradigms, in tune with our time and present-day social problems, and connected to the world of Tàpies.
