The Archive of the Museu Tàpies was created in 2009 with the aim of managing the institution’s collection of documentary material in a systematic way. Among other things, it is responsible for collecting, selecting, classifying, conserving and disseminating the documentary heritage generated by the Museum as it carries out its various functions.
The purpose of the Archive is to enrich the institution’s plural and interdisciplinary approach to stimulating study, knowledge and debate around modern and contemporary art. The Archive plays a crucial role in fulfilling the Museum’s mission as an educational institution, providing an essential resource for students, curators, conservationists, journalists, historians, artists, museum staff and art critics alike.
Currently, the artist’s personal archive is in the process of being digitalized, with the aim of making visible and public part of this legacy as part of the programme of the centenary celebration.
