In celebration of the centenary of the birth of Antoni Tàpies, the Fundació Antoni Tàpies is presenting a programme of exhibitions, publications, educational activities, unique events and creative and research projects that will unfold over the course of a year, from 13 December 2023 to 13 December 2024. The Tàpies Centenary Year aims to consolidate the Fundació’s commitment to approaching the artist’s work and ideas in depth, disseminating their understanding both nationally and internationally, and putting forward new interpretations and ways of looking at the work.
From an interdisciplinary and current approach, the Fundació will become the nerve centre of the event, but will focus on its ambition to reach out and bring the institution closer to the public. Alliances will also be strengthened with those institutions and cultural and artistic agents who feel close to the creative world of a universal figure such as Antoni Tàpies. To this end, the institution will be weaving a network of relationships and collaborations to broaden an awareness and deepen the understanding of Tàpies’ artistic practice, while interrogating it from the present.
